What benefit do these have over stock other than being pretty (which I appreciate)?

That's essentially it. It is claimed that improves engine response. How much of this is just placebo, or how much can be quantified, that is to be seen.

I've had mine for as long as I've had the car, but I bundled mods; headers, inlet tube, exhaust and pulleys. So giving a personal account on how much it improved the response would be pretty tough.

I was just curious. I'm getting ready to start a rebuild and I wondered about it.

Thanks. GLWS

Just for the record, are these stock diameter or under-sized?

I believe they maintain stock diameter in order to work with the factory belt. At least according to this website.
