Bushing, ball joint replacement.
Any input on what should be refreshed. I have a2016 BRZ with 127k and it’s my daily with mostly highway miles. Car drives great and did shocks and springs last year. Just wondering if I should change anything else out. No noises and car handles great. But I will be taking this car to as high miles as I can as I have a 981 cayman as a weekend toy. Any suggestions thanks.

Just my 2 cents for a daily driver:
Most failed or heavily worn bushings are going to be caught during inspection (if your state has it). Not saying to rely on that, but I've seen daily driven car go well into the 150k+ mark on various original bushings without any problems. If the car is driving well, the bushings are likely worn, but are still doing their job. The type of miles can make a big difference too - city vs highway, etc. Different story if you're tracking or autocrossing and going for times where everything working 100% is going to be of better use. I'd certainly give things a once over and check ball joints and other bushings, but if you don't see anything really wrong and the car drives well, and it's passing inspection, it's likely fine and you're just chasing nothing. The alternative is we tell you various bushings to replace... and may not need replaced. Or you're shelling out hundreds on full bushing kits to get polyurethane bushings all around, or new OEM ones. If you're asking my personal opinion, I stick to replacing struts when they need it or just before they're done and other bushings on an as needed basis. |
