Car alarm randomly going off
So, my stock car alarm out of nowhere started going of off like someone's trying to break into it. I would disable it, and it would just turn back on sometimes, other times it would stay off and then turn on randomly again. I had to disconnect the battery until I finally pulled the horn fuses.
Any idea what could be causing this? The battery is about 3.5 years old; I checked the voltage and it's still good. There was a lot of corrosion build up on the terminal, but I cleaned all that up and it still went into alarm mode. Online theirs some posts about a bonnet sensor issue, but it seems that was more related to the European models, doesn't look like the hood sensor is in the same place on North American models, I couldn't even find it on mine. The alarm hasn't turned on today as of yet with the fuses out. I worry it'll happen again randomly so I'm just trying to see if anyone else experienced this? 2017 with 65k miles. |
Update:
So, I didn't really do anything besides cleaning the battery terminals and the alarms haven't turned on randomly since then. I don't know if that was enough to fix it or if something else was just glitching out. I do plan on changing the battery in the near future as it is getting older. Just in case anyone else runs into this problem, hope it helps. |
