I need ordering help (Prem. vs Lmt)

I am going to order my BRZ in September and have been going back and forth between the Premium and Limited. The only thing i like about the limited is alcantara and keyless access/start. Is it worth the extra $2000 for those 2 items?

Any input is appreciated

I thought it was worth the extra money for the limited. You just have to look at the options and decide if they are things you want and if you think it's worth it or not.

I didnt care about either premium or limited but i realized i can install OEM fog myself and not fan of rear wing. also not really important on heated seat so i ordered premium

Subaru alcantara is pretty nice, I used to have it on my STI. It's probably the thing my girl misses most about that car. Keyless access/start is pretty convenient from what I hear.

If you can swing the payment, I'd upgrade to Limited. Even if you don't care for the other upgrades (heated seats, interior trim, fogs etc.), you'll make some of the initial cost back when you sell.

Have you seen the premium? I know for me I was headed for an FRS until I seen the inside and it just didn't do it for me. Immediately after we saw the BRZ limited and knew that it had all the upgrades we wanted. I think the premium would look exactly like the FRS interior and to me (and this is just my opinion) it looked very low end. If you have not seen both in person you should, and that will help you make your decision :).

FWIW I pre-ordered an FRS thinking the extra features were not worth it and I did get to sit in a BRZ premium just before. However a Limited that was ordered was up for grabs and I did like all the upgrades. Now, is it a great value, probably not from a financial perspective. However the little things like the passive entry and start is nice along with the better seat materials. I easily could have been very happy with a FRS and more so with a BRZ Premium but I'm glad in the end I got all the Limited options and enjoy them all other than the foglights which I never use.

I think the Subie premium interior is very nice. I like the seat material better than the FRS by a lot. I'm personally not a fan of the alcantera. I don't like the way it wears over time.

I also didn't like/want the auto climate control.

I think the Prem. BRZ is well worth the upgrade over the FRS, but I didn't think the Ltd was worth the extra money over the premium.

But, it's totally your decision.

How much do you want the following:
auto climate
alcantera leather
push button start with proximity key
spoiler
fog lights
heated seats

i'm sure I'm missing something else... Clearly if you add up the value of each of those it's more than $2k.. the question is.. do you really want/need all that?

Also I would say the alcantera, if the STi is any indication of longevity, will wear very nicely, perhaps longer than the mesh on the premium.

eikond 08-24-2012 11:57 AM

nope.. no heated seats on the premium.

ABQautoxer 08-24-2012 11:59 AM

Ah...believe it or not that's kind of a huge feature for me personally and it really doesn't get that cold here.

I love the interior of the Limited. The car is fun to drive, but the keyless (car automatically unlocks when you touch door handle) entry, push button start and alcantara seats I enjoy every day. Plus I love the look of the toggle switches. The spoiler and fogs are just icing on the cake. Heated seats are nice in the winter too.

I don't think too many people would not say the features are good (at least most of them), the question is are they worth the price. In my case they were, but that might not be true for the OP and its a pretty big jump in price.

I like regular old dials vs climate control. It's much faster to get the temp where you want it with them. I prefer regular keys over wireless ones (and I've owned two cars with wireless keys). Heated seats are nice on full leather, but with cloth seats I don't find it necessary (especially where I live). And I really don't think the spoiler looks that great.

So you can probably guess what I chose.

Reading between the lines, you want the Limited but can't decide whether you can justify spending the money for it. I say throw some extra skin in the game and live without regrets. Good luck, and enjoy your new ride...whichever trim level you go with.
