Is the GR86/BRZ Too Slow?

Morning Twiners,

Here's my latest video addressing a question often seen on the web: is the GR86/BRZ too slow?

As a 2023BRZ owner with few engine mods, the answer is "no" for me. In my video I cover three topics on why the speed is plenty:

Is the car fast enough for you? Let me know what you all think. If there are other topics you'd like me to cover in future videos post them up.

Cheers,

- Mike

Cars aren't too slow. Just the vast majority of the drivers.

I don't think so. I've had much faster vehicles on the street.
Mustang GT track pack, 135i, sport bikes.

Problem is you can't use any of it on the street unless you're being an a$$hat.

Totally agree. With that perspective I think it has more than adequate power for daily life and even on the autocross course. I've not take it to the track, but don't see why it wouldn't have enough power to be a lot of fun in a non-competitive setting.

The only time I feel it's a bit slow is in some highway situation when trying to merge into much faster moving traffic to get around slower moving vehicles or when some massive pickup or SUV is trying to push me down an on ramp and I don't have the ability to put a comfortable amount of space between us. In both those occasional scenarios, I wouldn't mid another 50hp.

Put it this way, I was tracking a 550hp LS3 FD RX-7, and after a year competing in time trials with my '17 BRZ, I sold the RX-7. Yeah, 160mph on Andretti Straight at Mosport is cool and all, but I'm alright with 126mph at Watkins Glen in the (new '23) BRZ...

All about the driver. I used to do HPDE in a 1990 Miata, only brake, suspension, safety mods. I consistently got point-bys from guys in much higher HP cars that didn't know what they were doing.

Use your left foot and your right hand and downshift a few gears. Look at traffic and hammer it up the onramp, that's what it's there for. To up to speed.
