Turbo BRZ stumbles at idle
Hey there guys!
here’s some of the backstory recently i’ve built my turbo brz, it has a built motor and it currently is getting tuned on ecutek by DBtuned. at first, we had problems at the very start with even getting the car to “start”. it would crank over and over until i open throttle then it would slowly rise RPM to 1500 to cold start. after that was all solved, i had an issue with a WARM start! the car would only continue to crank. luckily, we had both of those tuned in and now the car drives well, and also starts up well. now the big issue i’m having… the car just stalls out when coming to a stop. USUALLY it’s quickly, as if the whole car lost power instantly ( no struggling to catch a breath or anything ) rpm just drops and car is stalled out. i would say about 30% of the time, it catches its own breath and drops to around 300-400 rpm and bounce back up to idle. any input on what it may be? it’s a fully built FA20 long block. MAP Performance turbo kit. 3 bar map sensor, 300cc fuel pump, 1000cc injectors. Thank you! |
What is the base idle set to? There are tables in the map specifically to pad the RPMs from crashing, but you'll always have some sort of RPM dip once in a while, especially with the air conditioning running.
When you're coming to a stop, are you just pushing the clutch pedal in at like 3-4k RPM and letting it bomb? Or do you ride the gear as you slow down until you're close to 1k RPM? Try doing this if you're not already. |
