FA24 oil starvation explained

Ok, after seeing all the half information on what's going on with the FA24 and them blowing up on the track, a friend and I decided to put our money where our mouth is and do a proper investigation.

Here is part one of our findings...

Can't wait for the full 10 hour mini-series. Seriously, an hour video to talk about oil pressure issues? Nice of you to include chapters, I guess, but what does your video add that @900BRZ and forum posts already discussed?

You didn't actually watch the video, did you? YouTube only goes up to 2x. It can go faster with a plugin, but really, what's the point?

You clearly didn't watch all of @900BRZ videos either.

One of the major blind spots in his data that he himself has pointed out is that all the compilations he has are modded with either tires and/or oil coolers

We literally put our difference in the thumbnail dude.

I also respect the mad amount of work that 900BRZ has done. This isn't meant to one up him. Just complete the spectrum of data for everyone to see.

Would short shifting be a worthwhile test as well? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7mZjh8ORBI

I've also been hearing about that as well, noted for the next set of testing.

Thanks @Frost for all the hardwork. I found the parts of the video I did watch to be very informative

So I've been looking into the short shifting and I believe it goes back to the way the oil pump works.

Given its a positive displacement pump and flow rises linearly with RPM, at the high end of the RPM it will push out predictably more flow and thus your oil pan will be at the lowest level at steady state. Throw in some lateral G's and now you have no return and voila, instant oil pressure loss.

When you short shift and AVOID the highest oil flow rates, you keep that oil level higher.

This goes back and validates Ping and my concern is that the oil pan is too sm0l.

Cross your fingers for part 2 and I don't blow an engine!

Can you give cliffs? I don't have the time, nor desire, for an hour long video.

Engines require oil.

TikTok really killed peoples attention span. They cant watch it if its not a sped up 30 second video with some dumb mobile game playing in the background :bellyroll:

Thank you for the video. I actually subbed to your channel like a month ago, randomly found it and love the content you put out.

My question is what is your opinion on autocrossing this platform? Have you heard of any blown up engines from that? I would like to believe I am safer than track driving because really there are no long sweeping turns at high speeds. And the oil doesn't heat up that much. I still overfill by like 500ml and ask dealership to put in 5w-30, but I have this nagging thought at the back of my head that it might blow up. Dunno if I should keep the car once the warranty runs out in couple of years (only mods are OEM camber bolts on front and RE-71RS)

^ No TikTok here, but I'm not up for spending an hour of my time giving someone a view if there is no new information.

mr.whiskers 07-18-2024 01:17 PM

There is new information though.. but if you wont even open a video because its 1 hour long you wont know that

Thanks for the vid. I've been enjoying your track reviews. The experiment tilting the fa20 engine 90degrees was really amusing to say the least

For real. It's one thing to politely ask for a summary of new information. It's another to demand one and a reason to watch it because your time is too precious. No one is being forced to watch. Disappointing
