Perrin exhaust arrived missing a clamp

FYI - got my exhaust and it was missing a v-clamp. Perrin is sending me a new one. Check your parts list before installing

everyone makes mistakes now and then :iono: but they are cool enough to remedy the problem some aren't.

industrial 08-23-2012 11:12 PM

Eh, shit happens. They are taking care of you which is what matters most.

dabocx 08-23-2012 11:15 PM

Not really a big deal since they plan to send it to you. Its not easy to do everything perfectly right every time.

Your post is a bit overdone, you would think they screwed you over or did something horrible.

I usually reserve titles like "buyers beware" when companies screw me over not when they overnight missing parts to me... And yes always check to make sure you have all the parts. I did a clutch install on my F250 once and they forgot a small part which took two weeks to get!

sajonf 08-23-2012 11:19 PM

yeah they are taking care of the problem which would be expected from any company who doesn't send you the correct items. I clearly stated in my post that they are doing the right thing and that I screwed up by not checking that I had everything beforehand.

The purpose was to inform anyone buying an exhaust from this company to check their bill of materials.

Someone got same exhaust comes with 2 V-Clamp, I help to installed the Catback Exhaust and ran into a problem. The design of the V-Clamp is by far the hardest of all bolt on exhaust, the muffler sitting crooked the left muffler tip stick out 1 finger length and the right is push in 1 finger gap. The instruction said to twist and turn loose the v-clamp turn twist blah blah blah... and aligned the exhaust. We try for 20 mins couldn't get it straight, I really don't like the design of the V-Clamp! Why not Flange and bolt it on!

Crap happens but they were cool enough to fix the problem :D

V-bands are typically considered a step up over normal flanges. :iono:

In my case I would prefer normal flanges so that I could be listening to my sweet new exhaust :D

If it a step up then it should be easier to install > I bet u can I install an bolt on exhaust faster then u can clamp all that pipe together. Im not saying it a bad thing that Perrin using their V-Clamp, it just really difficult to work with!

JTM 08-24-2012 01:26 AM

They are a step up because they are less likely to come loose or leak.

industrial 08-24-2012 01:31 AM

V-bands are hard to work with? What the hell is this world coming to? Have you ever had to do a 3 bolt uppipe on a sti/wrx? Also, ease of install with a simple 2 bolt flange might be worthwhile if you don't mind leaks. There is a reason why all the exhaust piping on aircraft are ss v-bands!
