My SWP Premium is home....but it wasn't the smoothest delivery experience

Yay! She's home! So far I am loving her. But I can't say I loved my purchase or delivery. So here's the story....

Ordered a WRB Premium 2 months ago. It's still on waitlist. Sold my other car last week so decided to see what else was out there. Found this beauty about 400 miles from me. We negotiated on a fair price over the phone, and then they sent me my official quote which had some interesting new numbers in there.

1. Tint - $375
2. VIN Etching - $199
3. Doc fees - $315

So I bitched a bit, but decided tint wasn't a huge deal (even though it's a bit overpriced) because I liked the tint. Found out doc fees like this were common in the state I purchased from so I said "eh". VIN etching I was still peeved about, but no matter what I couldn't get them to remove it. In the end, I decided to just swallow my pride (unlike me) and go for it. It would cost me more to rent a car for whoknowshowlong until the WRB came in.

I also paid for delivery to my home state. And it arrived yesterday at a Target that I chose because of the large lot. The car got stuck in a storm filled with mud so it was FILTHY!!! but I didn't care much. It was here. The driver then went to take the car off the truck but discovered he's LOCKED THE KEYS INSIDE THE CAR!!!!!!

"What?, Really"

So he asks me if I have AAA and I tell him he needs to get his own locksmith out here. So he does. Watching a locksmith break into your new car that you haven't driven or even seen the interior of is pretty rough. But he gets it open.

....and now the car won't start. We think maybe it's a security method since we just broke into the car. So I try disconnecting the battery. No dice. We call the dealer. Turns out THEY FORGOT TO REMOVE THEIR SECURITY SYSTEM THAT THEY TRY TO SELL TO EVERYONE!!! and of course they didn't send the damn remote for it. I manage to disable the system myself, but for now I have to manually bypass it each time I start the car.

I get my car home, safe and sound and wash its filth off. I find that the tint on the passenger side has been ruined by the locksmith. Ugh.

So that's where I'm at. Loving the car. Hated the wait, the purchase, the delivery....yeah, that whole thing.

I won't out the dealer I bought from just yet. If they take care of me and fix my tint I'll let this all slide. But if they try anything else, I will post all their info, including all parties I dealt with, here. And add them to the blacklist thread.

Congratz on the car. Post up the dealer you bought from so others don't have the same horrible experience.

I'm going to wait until I hear back from them before I call them out and get them blacklisted here.

Pre-installing their own security system to gouge customers and making no mention of it is a pretty shitty practice regardless.

Now you can take 'soon' out of your profile..........

VIN Etching? If that's done, isn't it done at the factory?

no, it's etched into windows. It's a BS way to gouge people.

that I can't fully disable because I don't have the remote. So for now, I'm driving with it ghetto overridden. LOL.

I'm pretty sure my last Scion had etched glass and I assumed it was from the factory - or at least I didn't pay for it.

well, they tell me they will be taking care of the issue with the tint caused by the locksmith. So that's good.

Subaru Superstore of Chandler, AZ is the dealer.

Saw this exact car at that dealership a few weeks ago when i talked to Mike but the guy wouldn't budge on the 1K markup for out-of-state purchasers. Was close to buying it but i passed. Figured, for a car this special, I'd rather keep searching and find the exact options that i wanted without any dealer add-ons. Ended up finding the trim and model I was looking for the next state over. Congrats on the car, hope they compensate you for your troubles.
