Not blowing any hot air from vents

Has always blown hot air super fast, now won't get hot whether it's on recirculate or not, where should I start?

The engine.

- Does air get hotter towards the passenger side vents?
- If you turn the car on with no engine and the fan at low speed, can you hear the temperature door swing in the vents if you cange the temperature from one extreme to the other?
- If it's already hot, touch the heater hoses, are they hot or cold? On hot/one cold? Both hot? both cold?
- Wait until it's cool. Open the radiator cap. Coolant level? - IF low, check for leaks.

Is it blowing any air at all or is it just not hot?

Bubba says to cover half of the radiator with cardboard - :iono:

(hell, it worked back in the fifties)

A good start is to check the coolant system to see if you ran the overflow tank dry and picked up any air into the system. If it's empty or really low, it's a good indication the system needs refilled and burped.

Come on, @Alfrz, we see that you're logging in. What's the scoop?

The "I'm a dipshit and won't admit it." syndrome?
IE: Something super simple like it wasn't even set to hot.
Or the coolant suggestion.

I figured it was another drive-by thread, but whatevs. ChatGPT doesn't extend olive branches.

Lol sorry, no clue. It did it once since then, towards the end of a drive the air went cold. Never got any codes or anything

All my controls were in the right positions, trust me I sat in that car for 10minutes trying to figure it out that first night, so honestly wish I had more info for y'all. It just didn't become a problem and I didn't realize this thread was being posted on lol

As they suggested above, check your coolant levels. If you're low enough it wont make it to the heater core and will cause additional issues such as overheating. Hopefully its just a little low and didn't burn off through the head gasket.

How's your engine temp?

I had an old car where the thermostat broke and the coolant always cycled through the radiator, so the engine never warmed up and thus the heater didn't work.

Alfrz 03-12-2024 09:38 PM

To update this, I never did end up checking my coolant since the issue went away and never came back...
Until yesterday it didn't work again.
This morning I got a CEL light and traction turned off, P0128 and P0125. Coolant was probably almost bone try because it took a little over a gallon straight to the radiator. Car wouldn't turn over til codes were cleared, back in action now

Ultramaroon 03-12-2024 11:09 PM

Dear God, man! Was your temp gauge not pegged?
