Just 300 a month!!

Latest numbers I saw said <300 BRZ were sold last month... are they still limited on production or are these sitting in showrooms? I know its time for a model year switch, but these numbers do not bode well for the future of sports cars... and I very much doubt Subaru cares about our RTV/Oil Pressure problems with this tiny volume!

The other options are a) Zupra: BMW cannot fix their own cars, I very much doubt Toyota can service them and b) Nissan Z: Horrible face and more of a cruiser. Ok, there is also (for now) Camaro (about to go extinct) and Mustang (horrible horrible giant dash tablet). both remind me too much of the "screaming chicken" Trans-Am of old and appeal to a different demographic. Sad really....

it seems limited production. manuals around here in texas seem to be gone in about a week (car gurus).

why would there be a model year change 1.5 years into production? the average production run is usually closer to 4-5 years.

finance rates are going to have an impact, but the pandemic has put a serious kink in the entire production run.

The year keeps changing... 2023 will soon become 2024! I keep having birthdays.... sigh.

So is the guy over-squeezing the caulk gun on the oil pans holding up production... or is it something else?

This isn't anything new. Year over Year sales (Jan-Aug 2023 vs same period 2022) are relatively the same.

In fact the BRZ is up 40%. (3,091 units 2023 vs 2,019 units 2022), while the GT86 is down a bit (7,777 vs 8,826)

The Supra is down 47% this year. (1,912 vs 3,635).

And while Miata sales are up 80% (6,966 vs 3,820) it has still sold less units than the GT86

Source goodcarsbadcars. Not all models are shown because GM and Stellantis and some others only report sales quarterly. They show in the months where they publish numbers.

Manual, 2 door, RWD, NA is a dying breed.

Get one while you can!

Until Manufacturers don't go after dealerships, sales will be low. $45k for a GR86 when before pandemic the GT86 was like $25k -$35k

So other than the twins, going forward, what else still is there?
- Miata
- Mustang GT
- Some 718/911 models (I think...but there's like 10,000 variants...)

I was going to be clever and point out an F-150 single cab 2wd with the NA V6 and a manual, but it seems thats dead too.

Surely I'm missing some...

Both the CT5-V and CT4V Blackwings have a manual option but neither are NA.

NA eliminates some good ones. Not many cars today without some sort of FI or hybrid.

Take off the NA restriction and it opens up to the Caddies, Supra, and Nissan Z. Not a lot more options, but at least a couple.

I believe he's talking about cars you would find new at a dealer. Manual Corvettes ended with the C7; current C8's have a DCT.

Yea pretty slim. USA News reports only 35 in 2023.

Sadly that list is shrinking fast too. Camaro production is ending this year, VW is dropping the manual in the GTI/Golf R in '25 (maybe the GLI too?), and all Mini's loose them when the current generations end production.
