Catted UEL header and tune worth it?

Current setup is an AT supercharged 1st gen BRZ with sufficient supporting mods and stock header. Was going to get a tune for high boost pulley this week, but the part got backordered and the tunes gonna be postponed for a while.

While waiting, I was thinking maybe this is the chance to look into headers. Reason I want to go catted is because I want to keep my current Corsa exhaust, which has terrible sound compatibility with uncatted headers. Saw a few videos and liked how the 86speedfactory catted one sounds with my setup and see one used for sale on Facebook near me (can't find anywhere else because discontinued). Should I grab it and have it tuned at the same time as my pulley? Let me know what you guys think!

Tune worth it, Catted header not worth it. What little you are gaining in performance you are loosing to a inferior cheep aftermarket cat that will die and throw codes a lot quicker than a factory cat.

Check to see if you have E85 available at the pumps in your area. Flex fuel tune would be far better.

Fair point. I'd be getting a used one that has a dying cat too haha.

I'm flex tuned already, I'm going for a retune for high boost.

Worth it probably not, but if the sound makes a big difference I’d say do it!
Which S/C did you go with?

JDL has a Catted UEL but you really pay for the cat. $1300 Catted vs $800 catless.

They were experimenting with a Catted EL header but haven't heard much on it in close to a year when I ordered my catless EL. Might the worth shooting them an email.

Yeah, it certainly is tempting!

I went with the C38 JRSC. Don't know if I can wholly recommend it -- I went through a RMA because of noise issues that many other people had as well. However, it does make nice whooshing noises and engine seems to like it even with spirited driving.

That's one I've been eyeing, but it really is a steep price tag. 5 year warranty, though... I wish there was a bit more documentation on what kind of HP gain people have made on it with a tune.

Friend of mine has the FTspeed Catted UEL with a Corsa. That was the setup I wanted years ago when I ran a Corsa with everything stock.
His car is definitely louder than my current setup; JDL catless EL, Catted/resonated front pipe and CSG touring.

You might leave a little power on the table with Catted header but JRSC will be what you over welmingly feel.
