2013 FRS & 2022 GR86 at dealership

I thought this was a neat pairing. Local dealer has a very low mileage FRS and barely a demo GR86 side by each for sale. What do you think of the sticker prices?

i believe those are market averages, but more than i'd pay for either considering they're both first model years.

at least the '13 is the best color.

jesus how is a 13 that much? I know used car prices still suck but that should be closer to 10. GR seems to jump up to the 40 real quick if you cant find new model at its 35ish MSRP

I agree, but the market apparently does not. I can't believe how many 10 yo 86's are out there with $20K asking prices, even with normal mileage for their age..

Here is a 2013 that has only lost about $2k in value in ten years

I hadn't paid attention to the used market for either but in my mind, clean low-ish mileage earlier first gens I kinda imagined to be in he high teens at least. I guess the GR at 40+ isn't a shock, especially that color.

The most striking thing about the first gen to me these days is how few I see around. They seemed to be everywhere and then suddenly I never see them. The only ones I do see are kids working fast food, modded out to wazoo, driving the wheels off kinda thing. Those are the guys who will pay absurd $$$ for good examples in 20-30 years. Maybe the prices will start inflecting up a little sooner than that.

It needs to be called out that these are Canadian Dollar prices, not USD.

Those saying that the 2013 should be close to $10k really haven't looked at used car prices in 3 years. $10k gets you a beat and/or salvage title FRS. Not one that you'd likely want.

Ahh, the "km" should have given that away haha

They're both practically no-miles.
Though if the 13 has original tires, I'd want to discount a new set.

My lovingly cared for '13 FRS has dropped to a 10th of the value it had a year ago. Last year, i could have sold it to Carvana for just shy of $5,000. Last time I looked it was under $500.

OK, so it has 230,000 miles on it, and has had a front and end crash repair.

Ultimately, as much as I love my 86, ain't no way I would basically pay original list for ANY 11 year old vehicle. (Remember that most 2013s were really 2012 calendar year delivered vehicles).

Ah, being “called out” to me is a disparaging term meant to criticize. I hope you don’t mean it like it reads. I would hope you understand that, $24,000 CAD is a heck of a lot of money to a Canadian living and working in Canada, eh?
Oh, and for the record; Global Motors is in Binghamton New York. That’s in the Excited States of ‘Merica. So just to be clear, that $26,800 is in American Dollars. That would be around $36,425 CAD at today’s exchange rate.

This seems like you're looking for a reason to be offended considering all I did was state a fact about which currency the amounts were in as it seemed others were interpreting it as USD. Not sure what could be offensive about that.

To do the conversion to USD, the first gen is roughly $17,700 and the second gen is roughly $31,000. I'm not familiar with the Canadian car market, but those are, at worst, market prices in the US. I'd even dare to say the first gen is a good price compared to others I was looking at very recently.

For reference I paid 32k CAD (before taxes) for my 13 Sportech BRZ brand new back in march 2013… the base model such as this one was around 30k CAD, and I seem to recall the base frs was a bit cheaper, around 28,500 ou 29k CAD.

wbradley 08-29-2023 08:40 AM

The 2013 had a sticker price of $26K when it was new. My total on the road cost including $1800 freight and PDI as well as 13% tax, etc. was approx. $31,500. iirc.
So, I'd say not bad depreciation. lol
