Best Driving roads in the US

Here are a couple of resources for those that want to take their new Toybarus or other sports cars out and drive them like the were meant to be driven. The first one is from Autoweek and list the 50 best driving roads in the US.

The second is courtesy of our biker friends and list the best riding (or driving) roads on a state by state and area by area within that state. I have driven some of the ones that are listed in Ohio and I can tell you that they are spot on.

It just so happens that what tends to make a road a great road for a motorcyclist often also makes it a great road for a sports car enthusiast. Just keep an eye open for our two wheel friends when hitting that apex or exiting that corner!

Heading out Friday to drive SR26 in southeastern Ohio. It made both list and has been on my own bucket list since 1972. I first saw it when I was 18 and swore someday I would drive a sports car on it. In a way, I built my MR2 Spyder for that very purpose and Friday is finally that day.

I hope this helps all of you find a great road near you.

Just finished the drive of Ohio State Route 800 and Ohio State Route 26 with a little State Route 313 thrown in for good measure. Good times. Pushed the car hard a few times and there were no white knucle moments. The car has way bigger balls than I have. Even when I topped a hill into a blind 120 degree corner at 55 MPH the car stuck like glue. The back did not even step out when I had a brief instant of panic and trail braked in. This car is on rails and I could not be happier with the way my mods came together on it. Sadly, it works so good that I will not be opting for one of the twins anytime soon.

Mods:
2zz from 2003 Celica
6 speed from 2004 Matrix
2000 Celica ECU 8450 RPM redline
JIC Magik TAR-FLT coilovers lowered about 1.5"
TRD Front tower brace
TRD Rear tower brace
Che Breast bracing
OEM JDM hard top
TRD exhaust
Che header (soon to be DDPR/LR header)
PPE short ram intake
TRD short shifter
BRZ OEM 6Speed shift knob
2003 Celica GTS seats
Moda MD13 17x7 wheels 16.6 lbs
205 45 R 17 Yokohama S Drives all around. (Tail happy, my ass!)

She is a blast. I cannot wait to go back. I wish some BRZs or FR-Ss would come along for a great day of driving. Maybe we can organize something in the fall when the colors change. My brother would host a cook out at his home which is right on ST RTE 313 between Cambridge and Zanesville. Maybe by then his Camaro ZL1 will be in.
