New Software update out FYI
*Check your Email. New DCM software update push.*
Great news! Soon, your 2022 BRZ will receive a new software update for your telematics Data Communication Module (DCM). This update is a supplement to the Subaru Service Program WRB-23 and is included as part of your existing SUBARU STARLINK Safety Plan at no cost to you. Reason for this Service Program Due to an inaccurate internal timer within the telematics data communications module (DCM), STARLINK remote services from the MySubaru app or MySubaru.com including remote engine start (RES), remote door lock/unlock request, remote horn/lights, and vehicle locator will not operate after 388 days from the date that the DCM was activated. Updating your in-vehicle software will enhance the functionality of your system and improve your driving experience. To complete this update, you will need to accept the software update invitation that is displayed on the in-vehicle touchscreen. From there, you will follow the prompts in your vehicle to complete the update. The installation of your new software will take place when your ignition is OFF and will take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete. You can bypass the installation process twice before your vehicle will automatically install the updated software. Please note: An automatic download may cause certain STARLINK Safety Plan services, including automatic collision notification, to be temporarily unavailable during the software update. This software update will run until the end of November. What if I don't see the update? Good News! If you don’t see the in-vehicle invitation to download new software, your retailer may have already updated your software for you! For additional support and assistance, reach out to Subaru Customer Support at 1-800-SUBARU3 (800-782-2783) Enjoy your new software and happy updating! Your Friends at Subaru |
The young salesman at the dealership sat me down and told me a list of things I could do with Starlink for the amazing price of (I think) $100 a year. I looked puzzled... he asked if I had a question... So I asked "why the hell would anyone want any of that crap?". He started to stutter about doing this and that with your smartphone... I asked him if he could permanently deactivated my Startrek and remove the idiot sharkfin because I don't listen to satellite radio either.... Yeah, it was funny. More G's yes! More electronics NO!

I'd have bought a hole in the roof delete model too.

I have never noticed getting any even after every startup getting “checking for updates” I turned that nagging option off after 4 yrs… Always fun to buy a car “cash” and then face the finance salesman try to get you more options put on, more Warranty saying the electronics are very expensive to replace and do go bad… I my experience the electronics either go kaput real soon or last 50 yrs like some good 1970’s HiFi! And if they last only a few years you may want an upgrade anyhow. I really hate SiriusXM and any other car related subscription services. Keep that shark fin! |
I am in Canada I guess we don't have those updates or am I supposed to download them manually with wifi?
