If you can set it up where the wind can't get at it, It would be better than nothing at all. I have seen too many of those "portable shelters" come crashing down on cars due to wind storms. Use caution...if it goes wrong, it could cause some pretty significant damage.

We bought one at Costco 5 years ago that had the top, sides, front & rear door. It gets super windy up here but we don't get a whole lot of snow... anyway, the thing works great as long as it's anchored into cement. I'm sure if ours hadn't been anchored, it would have got destroyed and fell on the car. We did get 12" of snow on it a couple years ago but we had to go out and brush it off as it built up so it was kind of a hassle.

You may want to search around a bit, but I'm pretty sure all the tent shelters like these that I've seen in winter are round. They usually look a bit more rounded than the 'round' ones on that website, but similar idea. I know I've seen some of them that seem to be made of the white plastic material that you'd use to wrap a boat for storage. I have no idea what kind of framework would go under that or where to get it.

Sorry for the minimal help, but I'll keep an eye out.

Those portable garages work but as mentioned they need to be well anchored, additionally, if you get a lot of snow you should get a long handled broom and get the snow off FROM THE OUTSIDE.

There are news stories every winter about how people forget to do that and then the whole thing caves in on them and they get crushed by the snow and die - so, yeah, be safe!
