Borla or nameless performance axelback
Hi all,
Finally, decided to get an axelback. Everything is stock and she is a DD. I am between the Borla (#11937) and the nameless 2.5" w/5" mufflers. I think this set up was "humfrz" set up and he was very happy with it. Both have great sound clips on YouTube (haven't heard any personally). Nameless is around $800 and borla high at the $1K level. Little confused since nameless was more expensive in the past. I just want to get a little more (slightly more than stock) mature and deep sound and preferably no drone. I believe both are fine for these purposes. Living upstate NY and would there be any concern regarding corrosion for any of these guys? Does anyone have any suggestions or should I get the one whenever it has a great deal? Thanks |
Borla for sale cheap on the forum I noticed.
If you’re after another option the Perrin 2.5” resonated is a nice deep tone with no drone. |

Saw that listing, thanks. Unfortunately, pickup only. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thought that, but could always pay for a courier to pickup so no hassle to the seller. Still much cheaper than new [emoji1360] |

Perrin discontinued their 2.5" and 3" CBE. Contacted them recently prior to getting my CSG touring. Might be some left out in the wild via distributors but that's likely about it. They have a new designed single exit around gen2 with massive Helmholtz resonator at the end. |

I have the Fujitsubo Authorise S and it is slightly louder than stock: https://www.rallysportdirect.com/par...exhaust-system |
I'll chime in to recommend the newly released DC Sports axleback as well. It is slightly louder than stock with a nice deep tone at low rpm/low speed, but it does not drone at all on the highway (even with my EL header).
More info is available in the thread here. |

lol! Nameless a great choice if you have age related hearing loss.

All else stock, the nameless axle back is not terribly loud. Most are not going to be that loud, even muffler deletes, until you start removing cats.
|
Lol. Clearly we have different ideas of loud.

I like quieter exhausts, but I do think they need to be a bit louder than stock to be worth upgrading to. I was in the market for the Borla axleback when the catback version came up for sale I had someone pick up for $375 (total steal!). Even the catback wasn't that much louder than stock, but still had more bass at lower RPMs especially on the first drive. A week later, the car virtually sounds stock-ish to me.
Point is, the catback isn't that loud, and the axleback is known to be even tamer. Although from the videos I've seen on Youtube, the cold start of the axleback appears louder in almost all the videos I've heard vs the axleback, but after that, the axleback isn't that much louder than stock. Like borderline "is this even worth it" territory. I can't comment a ton of the Nameless, but video to video, it's about the same as the Borla catback in terms of sound level, maybe a touch more. Not much at all, if that though. I see a lot of Borla axlebacks go up for sale though. I'm glad I didn't end up with one - I think people get them thinking they'll be tame, but still make enough of a volume increase... and then they're too tame. I'd edge towards the Nameless if you're going for axlebacks only. Don't discount going for a full catback though. The install isn't that much harder and you can find one used most likely as there are a lot more floating around. Just my 2 cents. It's really hard to give opinions on exhausts because everyone has a different volume level they're shooting for. |
