2013 Scion FRS Exhaust Manifold bolts
 

So I just resealed my timing cover. Found that my exhaust manifold couldn't be removed due to at least one bolts is cross threaded in the head. The only time the exhaust was ever off was when the valve recall was done back in 2019-2020.:thumbdown: Sooooo just awesome. I was going to install a oil baffle in the pan next. Anyone have any experience with something like this? Best possible advise would be great.

Could you send a picture of the "bolts"? Generally, there are 3 studs on each head with nuts to hold the manifold on. The studs are fairly long so it would have been quite an effort to run them all the up cross threaded. I've had older Subbies where bolts were used. Something could have gotten messed up when the recall was done.

We don’t have manifold bolts, we have studs that are screwed into the head. Studs stay in the head unless damaged and need replaced. The manifold is held on with nuts. Likely just corroded or they flattened some threads when putting the manifold back on. Use a 6 point socket and be patient with it. Possibly may need some heat if it is just corrosion.

So we won't shoot bolts when engaging NOS and "Danger to Manifold!"? :)

I may just do that. Take my time and heat it up. I appreciate the help guys. I may document this repair and put it up on here. Thanks again!
