Pre Purchase inspection help

2 Attachment(s)
Hello everyone, I recently had a 2013 60,000 mile scion frs go in for a pre inspection and they found a few things I am unsure of. It gave us 2 codes (P013A and P2096). The car is stock besides an exhaust and rear sway bar (as far as i can tell). On the car fax it also has failed to pass emissions a couple times leading me to think it’s cat related but not entirely sure because it passed later on. I know these cars o2 sensor codes can mean all sorts of things like an exhaust leak, a bad cat, and even just a bad sensor, but was wondering if these 2 together or these mods are making anything stand out for the potential cause. Is there anything I can do to further diagnose and narrow down the issues occurring? Aside from those 2 engine codes we also got a code (U1201) that was titled “CAN failure/error counterfeit circuit”. This one i’m very unaware of, even after research. Any info on this one would be a lot of help (attached a photo of the codes if needed.

I appreciate all the help ahead of time (:

Is this a recently purchased vehicle or are you the original owner?

Emissions tests can also fail for not driving enough. So a 'failure' isn't always a mechanical result

I've been told that aftermarket headlights and ballasts can sometimes cause CAN errors. Does this car have modified headlamps? Are there any other things on the car that appear to be aftermarket electrical modifications?

I got a pu1201 when I tried to connect to my laptop using the ECUTEK cable. Ended up using a short higher quality extension cable.
