Clutch release noise normal?
Hi Folks,
Just had my BRZ 2023 for approx 1 month and 1000 miles now, I just wanted to ask if its normal to hear a obvious clicky/notchy noise when releasing the clutch in neutral? I find its quite noticeable when i first start the car, but once the car is warmed up i dont really notice it, unless i press the clutch in and out 5 times or so, then its really noticeable again even when the car is warm. I've had some weird grinding/crunchy noises when downshifting into 3rd and 2nd, and the occasional clutch burning smell while driving, so not sure if this noise when releasing the clutch is related or part of normal operation. |
The pedal on my first gen does click upon engagement. I always thought it sounded like the clickety-click of a gated shifter, so I never did anything about it.

Personally, I'd be more concerned with the crunchy/grindy noises on downshift. I have a 1st gen and GR and neither of them do that. I'd have someone take a look at your clutch. The clicking might just be the fork moving back and forth or the clutch plates hitting the flywheel.
