questions on ordering frs

I called dealership to order my frs, and they requested $500.0. My question, is this a requirement for ordering?

My dealership wanted a $1000, fully refundable deposit. Make sure that $600 is refundable, or that it will go towards paying for the actual car. Otherwise, hit up another dealership.

Yep. Deposit ($500~$1000) is entirely normal. As said, make sure it's refundable and make sure that's in writing.

My dealer just had me pay the first month's payment as a refundable deposit. Worked out good because then when the car came in I just picked it up and didn't have to pay anything else.

I gave a $500.00 refundable deposit, key word refundable.

+1, same here.

Like others have mentioned, make sure it is definitely refundable and is in writing (keep receipt). Refundable = Back to you, and not only applied towards another purchase. Make sure with them so there's no misunderstanding, of course.

Good luck with your order. :)

I only had a 100$ deposit

I guess I'll have to get a down payment or sell some of my muscle car parts...Just a pain, due I'm approved via my credit union to get the car. I just wanted to do my paper work and take my car home, or in this case wait to get the phone call so I can drive the car.

mine was also $500 deposit but it was only for good faith - the check was not cashed

You do realize why they ask for a deposit though, right? When the car isn't even built yet, and the small amount of risk that the dealer assumes by agreeing to order you a vehicle?

Yeah I do, I also experinced this request just to test drive one.

Should be refundable, and it is normal. My dealer originally wanted $1k, but I looked at him weird, and asked how come the deposit for the First 86 was only $500. He talked to the sales manager and he told him a $500 deposit would be fine.

DON'T FORGET ABOUT IT! My salesman forgot about my deposit, I had to mention "what about the $500 I put down?" He got it fixed right away.
