KORU Project BRZ - XXR 527 18x8.75 ET35 Kenda Kaiser 225/40/18

Here's our Project BRZ on XXR 527 spec 18x8.75 ET35 running Kenda Kaiser 225/40/18 tires. The car is lowered on KW V3.

We wanted something that was getting close to flush but not un-driveable as the car is a daily driver. Hope that this is helpful for those looking at wheel specs!

Here's the difference in the width of the tires:

Here is the difference in fitment on the front (There is also additional camber so when you bring the camber out. It will sit more flush.):

WOW! looks good! thank you for posting, this is one of the set-ups i was looking towards as well. Thank you!

Is there room to fit a tire w/a little more sidewall, my car will see the track fairly often, and would like a tire w/little larger sidewall. Thanks for the photos, looks fantastic

Nice but i don't see your handicapped sticker ;)

Beautiful! how much do they weigh compared to the stock set up?

I found out that the 18x8.75 weigh roughly 21.5lbs :) so same as stock http://www.ebay.ca/itm/XXR-527-18-18...ht_3481wt_1139

Yes there is. You don't have to run the car as low as this one to get more tire under there.

Haha. That's on the side of our building. It was empty for quite some time as you can see by the weathered condition of the Handicap sign.

Looking really good there Koru. What was the drop on those KW's?

kidgogeta 08-22-2012 07:13 PM

how would 235's fit all around, was thinking exact same setup with michelin super sports

sw20kosh 08-22-2012 07:52 PM

Yeah space for 235s or 245s there with no rubbing (on a 1" drop)? Or would I have to mess with camber?

Also, does anyone know if these will hold up to the stresses of track HPDE driving?

I just want to point out the attention to detail so far in this project:

The fact that
a) you chose the limited WRC blue color (can't get an FR-S in that!)
b) you chose the FiveAxis lip spoiler (looks BEAUTIFUL in that blue!)
c) you chose what some may argue to be the best wheels on the BRZ
d) you chose that deliciously-tasteful STi-Replica front-lip spoiler

and finally my best compliment: FLOW. The car just has a certain flow that only well-made and tastefully modified cars have. BRAVO. this is precisely how i would make a BRZ if i had one!

I don't understand the choice of tire. Kendas are good for drift spares and that's about It. I've used 11 sets this season but I wouldn't dare daily driving them or run them as front tires

I think that there is still room for 235s all the way around.

This suspension was closer to a 1.5" to 1.75" drop so you should be okay as long as you watch your aspect ratio on the sidewalls.
As far as the wheels go, they seem to be pretty strong as we have a few friends that runs these for track days and drifting without any problems. Granted they are not as light or strong as high dollar wheels, but they are a great bang for the buck.

Thanks! This was mostly because of the decisions from BR33Z3.

Not sure where you are coming from on this. The Kendas are pretty good tires. They are not some off brand Chinese tire. This was the main decision why we went with the Kendas as this is one of our sponsored race cars. Thanks for your input!

They are a pretty basic tire and an entry level performance tire by every standard. Just because they have a sponsored car doesn't mean they are amazing. Achilles ATR Sport is a good drift tire but is not an all around great tire. Small blocks and squishy sidewalls .. they are OK. Good street tire for the money though.

These are no better. Same boat as Venezia, Achilles ATR, Nexen etc
