Is turbo flutter normal for these cars?
Hi, I’ve never owned a turbo car before adding a SME turbo kit with a g25-550 turbo (internally gated)
I swapped out the standard internal turbosmart BOV for a GFB blow off valve that has adjustable venting bias. When letting off it’s hard for me to hear whether my blow off valve is actually venting correctly as all I can hear is the turbo flutter. It’s nothing crazy, maybe 3-4 quick flutters and that’s it. I’ve adjusted the BOV spring to the softest value but didn’t really hear any noticeable change in the venting sound. If I switch the blowoff valve to full internal bias I don’t hear a massive difference other than maybe the flutter is slightly quieter. Don’t get me wrong it sounds awesome, but everything I’ve looked up seems to say if I’m hearing flutter then the BOV isn’t working. Also will add it happens at any rpm when I’m in boost- there’s a chance it is working and I just can’t hear it because of how loud the flutter is, don’t know Just wondering if maybe these cars just like to flutter or if it’s not normal. All my parts including BOV are all brand new, and I’ve double checked they’re correctly installed and working (I hear the motor moving when I adjust the venting bias) Thanks |
greddy turbo doesn t have a bov so it flutters like crazy
hks turbo flutters too wouldn t worry about that i mean i get you want to know why it still flutters with a bov, that i dont know why when it shouldn't, but not big deal anyway |

anyway no big deal, probably the bov isn t big and quick enough and there is still a big of surge at least it sounds cool and you said it ends quickly so don t worry |
