Gearbox HELP..

1 Attachment(s)
Hi,
I have a 2016 manual BRZ. I have just started to change the gearbox oil and now have a problem.

Instead of removing the actual drain plug I removed the little plug next to it :bonk:

There was no sealing washer and looking online at parts diagram there is a little ball above the plug , nothing came out other than oil, no ball, no sealing washer, nothing.

Do I just refit the plug as is or should I fit a crush washer (I have one that would fit)

Library image below, blue arrow pointing to the little plug.

The plug is sealed with teflon tape or similar, there should be a detent ball in there. If it is missing....I'd replace it. It is P/N: 30099AA350

Thanks for the reply.
I am 99.9% sure that no ball came out with the plug, indeed no sealing washer too.

In the threaded hole there is some blue sealant in the threads.

I am inclined to just refit the plug using some Hylomar on the threads.

I have sifted through the old oil in my drain pan and there is nothing in it.

what does the little ball do ? and what would happen if I carried on without it ?

It's number 9 in this image. Under the center case.

It looks like its is part of gear shift fork rod #5.

Update on this.
Researching online and checking the workshop manual I have concluded that the little plug and ball is only used for gearbox assembly only.
It is for this reason that nothing came out when I removed the plug.
I changed the gearbox oil to Fuchs and the problem has gone away. Result :)
