Rumor: Discontinuing Neptune Blue

Saw this reddit post today of someone from the EU stating Neptune Blue was no longer being offered.

Any thoughts? This color and similar shades have been offered for many years now, I don't see it being discontinued, at least in the US.

I heard a similar rumor a couple of months ago from a friend who lives in Japan

My first thought was if anything it has more to do with the tiny number of cars they're getting in general. Never know though.

This ^
Subaru doesn't care what colours they use. They change from one car to the next anyway it isn't like they are batch painting and a different colour messes them up.

Hell Subaru got rid of my favorite color (Galaxy blue silica) after 1 year if I’m not mistaken. Scion kept the color.

I found a post on another GR86 forum from September that their dealership said the same thing and to choose a different color. Things aren’t adding up.

Yep. And the very fact that they kept it shows it wasn't a "oh we have to many colours for the plant to keep up" situation as expressed in the link that was posted.

They got rid of the Galaxy Blue when they introduced the WRB. That makes sense since there wasn't a huge difference.

That's a bummer if true, I wanted to get a GR because of that color. But the lead time and ADM steered me back to the BRZ.

dtrop 03-22-2023 07:29 PM

another reddit post today says their Canadian dealership also says no more Neptune

Come on U.S......

I would take a nice yellow as a replacement though (not the series yellow frs, more like the series yellow BRZ)

A shame if so. Neptune Blue is the most beautiful color available for the GR86.

VoltsFRS2013 03-26-2023 06:42 PM

As long as they replace it with another color, I don't really care. Personally for me though I always thought Neptune looked a little funny on these cars. I haven't seen a single neptune that really caught my eye. However, folks say that about Trueno Blue / Ultramarine etc.

Hoping we'll get something like Hakone or Moonslate Metallic on the GR.

But thats the best color!

Fun fact: Sapphire blue pearl is not available on Canadian BRZ's, but it is available in USA. Found that weird.

99% of BRZs seem to be WRB so another blue would be redundant anyway.

99% are wrb probably because another blue color is not offered (although I do think that wrb is the superior color, just found it interesting how they changed color options for Canada)
