Direct Injectors stuck in head.

Hi everyone - I am pulling my injectors to replace the seals. I am at the point of removal of the first two, high pressure direct injectors on the passenger side. The port injectors are out, the intake plenum is off, the high pressure fuel line is off, the high pressure fuel rail is off, and the injector electric connections are off. The injectors have a bit of play, can spin, but do not want to come out. I am concerned about hurting them with pliers. Is there a trick to getting them out? Thank you!

They don't come out easily. Just pull until they do, the only thing you could hurt is the seals (or the housing if you're using tools). I wouldn't use pliers if you can avoid it. Putting them back in is scarier

Thank you. I got them out, but damaged at least one, and I am going to put new ones in.

Is the procedure to put the new ones in individually, and then install the rail on them? That seems like it makes sense.

I'm planning on putting them in the freezer to shrink them before putting them in.

I had mine in the freezer overnight, and the next day, attached them to the rail and used the rail to seat them evenly. Tightening the rail down very slowly and evenly (switch left to right every couple ratchet rotations) you'll eventually feel them pop in

This is what I did too. I brought them out to the garage 2 at a time, Lubed them up and gently worked them in by evenly tightening the rail bolts. A couple of them made a swoosh sound as they went in, others just slowly sled in. Very satisfying.

OK - I finally have the new high pressure injectors.

I am considering putting them in one at a time, getting them 95-99% installed into place by hand individually, and then putting the rail on them, fastening the metal clips, and then slowly tightening them into place. Does this sound like a bad way to go?

Also, what is the best (or appropriate) lube for these?

Thanks again!!

Are the teflon seals preinstalled and properly "shrunk"? If not, do more research. The injectors won't, by hand, slide in past where the seal engages the hole in the head. Once out of the freezer, I quickly installed them in the rail, lubed them with Mobil 1, and worked them in with the rail bolts before they warmed up.

Thanks - they are new OE injectors with seals preinstalled. I really don't want to screw them up when installing.

Then maybe you should do them in the method people who have done it successfully in the past prescribe.

Torque specifications for Direct Injector Job

What is the best place to find the torque specifications for this job - for the direct injector fuel rail bolts, intake manifold, throttle body, port injector bolts, etc.

I'm about to seat and tighten down the new direct injectors.

Thanks in advance.

Go here for service manual;

gt86stuff.onrender.com

You’ll find 14 ft/# for the rail bolts and 57 in/# for the union nuts for the fuel tubes.

Well, how did the install go?

It went great. It seems like putting them on the rails first is the only way to go. I put them in the freezer first. Required a bit of a push to get them going. Car runs noticeably smoother, and have had a couple successful autocrosses and a track day on them.
