Clutch depressed when bleeding
I was bleeding air out of my clutch to hopefully get a better feel for it because I ADJUSTED MY CLUTCH HEIGHT and when car front side is lifted and clutch was pressed in and out 5 times or so and held in I cracked open the bleed valve and it shot fluid out highly pressured, clutch nudged and I closed the valve, clutch pedal is to the floor and comes back up by hand but if I tap the pedal it’ll fly down to the floor again. Sorry I couldn’t find a fix on forums at a glance. 2013 Subaru BRZ

sounds like you opened the bleed valve too far and added air to the system.

How could I get air out of system when clutch pedal stays pressed please

Hope this didn't happen.

As I understand you, you depress the pedal, open the bleed valve, close the bleed valve, and the pedal doesn’t rebound.
It should. I haven’t bled the clutch line on my BRZ yet but every other hydraulic clutch I’ve worked on had a return spring in the master cylinder. I’d be surprised if this one is different. Assuming it’s not, something is off. The return spring is broken? Perhaps the linkage somehow went over center and won’t allow the pedal to rebound. The linkage has a funky “helper” spring to reduce pedal effort for 60 pound 14 year old drivers. Mine is in the “silly oem parts” box. I guess that could be involved somehow but I wouldn’t think so. I suspect Ultramaroon will be along to clean things up in a bit. Good luck. |
My old Wrx was like that. Just keep pulling it up and dont let all the fluid out each time. Just allow half of the fluid keeping some pressure when closing the bleed valve. It should pump up bleed and work normal once air is out
