Trunk locked and no Manual lock on trunk

1 Attachment(s)
Alright guys I goofed up, I just bought a 2013 frs and pressed the button inside the trunk not knowing what it did.
It wouldn't be a problem except it turns out there's no place to stick the key in on the bottom of the trunk, There's just a hole where the lock should be. Seller told me it was aftermarket so I guess I shoulda seen that one coming. Back seats aren't folded down either.

Any ideas on how to get my trunk back open?
is there some sort of cable I can fish out and pull or any wires I can short to re-enable the remote open function? (I'm assuming the trunk lock button is just a switch that disconnects two wires)

any help would be super appreciated and a huge lifesaver

going to need to pry up the buttons on the top of the back seat so you can fold it down and gain access to the emergency release inside the trunk.

or a sledge hammer.

Great idea! I got the passenger side seat latch unlocked by sliding my hand between the seat and the side of the cover, and pulling out the fabric pull thing.
The driver side latch is proving to be a bit harder to grab.
I managed to get my phone behind the seat to snag a few pics and that is helping me a bit.

I dunno what's supposed to be aftermarket, but they all should have a lock cylinder on the trunk. Now that it's open look inside the trunk panel, there's probably a loose cable where the lock should be.

I took it to mean the trunk lid had been replaced and the previous owner didn't transfer the lock.

@ImaginaryFriends sounds like you resolved this the hard way. If you look at the top of the back seat, there are two buttons, one on each side, that look something like a door lock. If you pull them both up, it unlatches the seat. You may have to pull up the trim around them first, but I'm able to pull mine up just with my fingers.

Someone would have to be a moron of a galactic proportion to do that.

I lot of owners don't even realize there is a lock there.

I have two trunks for my car and don't transfer the mechanism :iono:. That said I've never once used the trunk latch key release.

3D printed a cover for the stupid trunk button and haven't though about it again.

OHHHH fancy.
If you look really close you may see duct tape residue from the little Tupperware container I had over the button. I took it off when selling the car because although it worked it looked like crap.
