Grimmspeed air filter fitment problems
 

I recently purchased a Grimmspeed dry-con air filter (060095) for my 2023 GR86 MT. Unfortunately it wouldn't fit right when I tried to install it. I removed and replaced my stock filter twice just to see if I was doing something wrong, but that was no problem and it seems like there is too much material on my Grimmspeed filter. I looked it over and there may have been additional rubber left over on the Grimmspeed from when it was molded. Anyone else have problems fitting the Grimmspeed air filter into your stock airbox? Specifically the left side/passenger side is more of an issue. I don't want to be too forceful and accidentally break one of the plastic pieces on the airbox. I might try to trim some of the excess material and try again.

Before you start cutting stuff. Is it the right part number?
The 95 is right but does it say the same on the box?

On the box it says "Subaru/Toyota 22+ BRZ/GR86.


The part number is also on the filter itself, in addition to the bag it came in.

Im not one to do a hack job when replacing parts …

Have you tried to contact them and give their customer service a chance to make it right ?

Doesn’t fit mine either. You’d think they’d check this first.

That’s my thoughts too but Anthony at Drunkmann told me he highly recommend these at a minimum for a stage one tune. I would think he knows what he is talking about (or maybe he has Grimmspeed stock����)

I read great things about these Grimmspeed dry-con filters, so I'm excited to get one installed, but maybe they had a batch that didn't quite fit right. I have contacted their customer service and they asked to see photos of the attempted install and which parts don't fit, so I will update this thread after I hear back from them about it.

Nothing wrong with the stock filter. If you want to increase intake flow you'd be much better off ripping out the charcoal filter and calling it done.

Yes I plan to do this, and possibly also the post MAF intake tube. Anyone had issues with charcoal filter affecting the warranty? Or problems with the post MAF intake tube?

I'll test mine tonight and get back to you as well.

I bought one of these to pair with the greddy intake scoop I picked up. Not so much for the increased airflow (although it can't hurt), but for the added strength in preventing hard debris from piecing the paper filter since the intake opening is now directly facing the frontal air flow.

My car didn't come with the charcoal filter.

Did you get any info from Grimmspeed? Or a replacement filter that fits? I'm still waiting on them to respond after I sent photos and a description.

Did you get the Greddy post MAF intake tube, or the Grimmspeed dry-con filter, or both? Everything fitting and working fine for you?

Nah, I don't want to change that part of the intake. Just the dry-con filter for its strength and the Greddy scoop for a tiny bit of positive pressure.

Helmholtz resonators (and even fixed volume ones like ours) can give around 17-18 percent more airflow, so changing how the intake works post filter I think might be a challenge to get right.
