Load carrying capacity reduced?
Has anybody else noticed a yellow sticker on the inside of your driver side door frame that says:
"CAUTION: LOAD CARRYING CAPACITY REDUCED Modifications to this Vehicle have reduced the original load carrying capacity by 2 kg or 5 lbs" Any idea what this is all about? |
They probably added 5 lbs of stuff somewhere at the factory and didn't want to change it up in the manual or wherever it tells you the carry capacity.

I have not noticed this...will look next time I get in!

Something done at port of entry or dealership perhaps.

Maybe the front bumper crash beam or something was changed to meet US safety regulations and as a result was just that much heavier? I remember seeing somewhere a long time ago about something like that for the US market regarding other cars. Don't know if that still holds true.

Accessories added after the car left the factory (floor mats, trunk mat, spoiler, etc.) change the capacity, but since they are done after the car left the factory, they add a reduction sticker.

The dealer assessed your figure as you walked in. Nothing personal.
EDIT: Yikes! Just looked at mine. It says 4 lbs! I have the trunk carpet, the center-console device holder thing, maybe they add up to 4 pounds. |
I brought this up as well as another member in another thread. The Subaru version has different spring rate in the rear so it allows for a heavier load capacity than the Scions...Subaru's don't have this sticker...as far as I have ever seen. 3 friends have a Subaru and none of those have it, and different trans combos on all cars.
My 2 cents. |
