price for used frs...

Hey guys. I just bought an frs a month ago and am considering selling it. I was hoping you could chime in on what a good asking price would be. Its a white 6 speed. Upgraded audio. Clear bra on Hood, fenders, and rear bumper. Trunk carpet and wheel locks. Currently has 1,100 miles. Flawless in and out I am located in the bay area (Calif.).

Let me know what you all think. Trying to see how big of a hit I would take if I sell.

whitefrs 08-21-2012 09:19 PM

23-24k

Since it's whiteout and everyone seems to be looking for a whiteout, you might get high 23K for it if you find the right buyer.

suppy and demand, I would try to sell it at $25,000.

id rather pay 1.3k more and get a new one

I'd knock a grand off what you paid to account for mileage and hope for the best. Too bad it didn't work out!

Can't get a new one with those options for only 1.3k more... not out the door anyway.

Yup. But I have the piece of mind of knowing nobody else drove it. There is not an infinite amount I would pay for that, however it is always in the back of my mind.

Jidonsu 08-21-2012 09:35 PM

The new owner would have to pay sales tax on the car anyways, right? So I don't think anyone would really want to pay 25K for something they can probably pay 26.5K before taxes for, brand new, assuming they actually want the upgraded audio and clear bra. If you can get 25K, excellent, but we just wanna make sure you don't get surprised if you get lower offers or discouraged if people don't respond to your ad at all. Put it for 25K and see what happens. If you don't need to sell it right away, even better.

Why don't you want it?

Your "25K" isn't out the door either. The buyer still has to pay sales tax. If the upgraded audio is BeSpoke, I wouldn't want it. A new FR-S OTD is just over 27k...which is right about what yours is at.

For that money, I'd much rather have a brand new one.

Sales tax on used cars should be less. Should be divided by the total number of owners including the new owner.

So 2nd owner will only have to pay half the sales tax, then 3rd owner pays 1/3, and so on.

boucher 08-21-2012 09:52 PM

I would say in the area of $22k. It's not a new car anymore so you can't ask new car price. It lost value the second you drove off the lot. $22k might be enough price difference to make up for the issues other people have cited. Either way, GLWS.
