Car beeps 7 times on keyless unlock

I have a 2012 Toyota 86 which has what seems to be a quirk. When unlocking the car without the keys (putting a hand through the door handles) the car unlocks while beeping and flashing the indicators 7 times.

It does this every time. Locking only has one flash and beep, while locking using the keyfob does it once for lock and twice for unlock. I bought this car in 2017 and it has done this ever since. It was stock when I bought it and was previously used in Japan, so I have no information on it prior to being imported. I've checked techstream to see if it was a setting but could not find anything related.

A couple threads I've read where it beeps multiple times mentions failed or failing door lock actuators, but both my doors luck/unlock properly both keyless and using the fob. Lock/unlock works fine with the interior switches as well. I've just been living with it as if it's a feature but figured I would make a post to see if anyone has encountered anything similar or might have any ideas to troubleshoot it.

Alright, it's actually 8. I've uploaded a video of this happening on YouTube in case it helps anyone.

Can you disable the auto folding mirrors? Maybe it's a warning that they're in motion. We don't have those in the U.S.

He's lived with it for six years. I think that's a given. Not knowing why would bug the hell out of me too.

Yes, I know.

He needs to go on the Japanese boards.

That's a decent idea. Just had to squeeze it out of you.

It used to beep like this since before I installed a device which added the auto folding functionality.

I've searched a bit but I've found it difficult to find information on japanese forums or sites apart from the product manufacturers themselves. If you know of any, please do point me in the right direction and I'll have look.

I've looked for similar problems in other cars and most point towards failing door lock actuators. While it may be possible mine are on the way out, I've never faced any issues locking and unlocking. Most say it's intermittent and they can hear the actuators trying to lock unlock multiple times but mine don't do that either.

Living with it isn't really a problem but I do notice it every time when I'm already inside and getting comfortable in my seat while my car is still beeping letting everyone outside know that I have indeed unlocked it.

LOL I'd be tempted to unplug the damn speaker under the hood but I hate mysteries even more than workarounds.

Let us know if you find the real answer.

Like you mentioned, I would assume it is something with the door/keyless unlock that is causing the problem.

Do you keep the spare key in your car? If so, that may also be causing interference.

I don't have a spare key. I never got one with the car. I didn't get an owners manual either.

I've looked over the English manuals but found nothing related to what I'm facing. I wasn't able to find the Japanese manuals online but I will be ordering one soon, I'll try looking over it with translate but I don't really expect to find anything different from the English versions.

I have noticed one other thing which may be related. I'm not sure exactly what causes it as it happens intermittently and I have not been able to recreate it. While inside and the car is started, possibly when locking the passenger door manually or after opening and closing the passenger door the car beeps, flashes and actuates the locks. It could mean whatever is wrong may be on the passenger side. This has also been happening since I bought the car but it happens very rarely.

I've taken my car to the Toyota dealership in my country and they also said they have no idea what is causing it. I asked them to check my passenger door lock actuator and it's functioning normally according to them.

I don't really know what else to check short of replacing the actuators and hoping it solves the issue. I do appreciate everyone's input.
