Slicks on 18" Wheels, Fender Package
 

Hello, new to the forum, and just starting to plan out a turbo K24 track-focused build for a 2013 BRZ I acquired.

I am looking to run Michelin slicks, and will probably target the following:
Front: 25/64/18
Rear: 27/65/18

I have to research my wheel options, but almost more importantly, in this phase of the build I need to plan out the body modifications.

The Michelins measure wide, with the rear 27 measuring more like a 285-295.

I am assuming I can contain the fronts with Victory Function VF-RFs.

Any recommendations on the rear body modifications (or recommended rear fenders) to hold the 27s?

While I am asking this, can anyone recommend a couple of good wheel options around the following sizes:
F: 18x10
R: 18x11

Not the answer you're looking for but why don't you consider running a 25/64/18 square setup? You might be able to clear everything depending on the camber and wheel offset.

I think the car will also work better over a wide range of temperatures since a 285-295 slick might have difficulty getting up to temp and having a tire within operating temperatures is key to maximizing tire life and grip.

I'll be running a G25-660 and making 420+whp. If I can find the right 18x11s, its possible I could work up to a 27/65/18 square.

I believe the time attack car from FTSpeed was using Hoosier 295/30/18s (F) and 315/30/18s (R).

It seems that TE37s used to be available in that size but I can not seem to find the 5x100 PCD. I may have to go to Forgeline, but my search has just begun. Forgestar used to make custom 18x11s, but I haven't looked at their offerings recently.

You could also try Augment wheels. If you want to spend the money you could get forged magnesium. :23:

why run 18s? 17 is going to be lighter and cheaper.

A couple of reasons for 18s. Slicks sizes are much more plentiful at these target widths and heights and also readily available as scrubs. Also, I'm clearing a 372mm rotor.

I really like my BRAID wheels. Not the lightest, but super strong made to order wheels in whatever size, offset, and bolt pattern you want. Mine are flow-formed, their forged stuff is very nice but a bit more expensive. Still not bad though.

Thanks Andrew, actually the car I bought has your coil overs on it, so I'm sure I'll be in touch at some point. I won't have the car ready for shakedown until around early April.

I forgot about Braid and did not remember they could do custom offsets. I'll reach out to them.

I have fit both 27/65/18 Michelins and 250/650/18 Yokohama slicks on this chassis in the past. The Michelin is decent bit pinched on a the 18x9.5, but that's the wheels I had on hand that I used, and the Yokohama's are a nice fit. Stock body on my car.
You'll probably want flared fenders if you want to go any wider wheel wise on 18's. the wheels at that point will definitely be more custom. Take a look at the wheels in @gt5759's thread, they might be a great option.
I also would probably go with a square setup too personally. What series are you planning on running?

I'm just going to run track days with the BRZ, so not a series. Basically a no rules car.

If I am going to modify the rear fenders, I'm probably going to want to make sure I can package protect up to a 315. Any recommendations on the cleanest looking rear fender options? I don't want the look to be overstated.

There is a vendor I worked with on another project that just replied to me that can do a forged 18x11 at a good price but it limited to a 23 offset, so I might start with that.

Origin Lab makes a +25mm rear fender in the old style where it covers the whole quarter panel. That is what I want for my car. You could 3d print some small pieces for the rear bumper and c pillar to make it seamless.

ESR makes the SR07 and a few other models in 18x10.5 +22 (on 5x100). Its the last available size on the list. Its what I've run on the rears for a season now and they hold up fine for me, including a couple of offtrack excursions.

Great find on the ESRs. That is right in the ballpark of what I was looking for and it's hard to deny that price. Did you happen to weigh them?

In follow up, I've narrowed my front fender search down to some fenders with +20mm through +30mm widths that are OEM replacements so that I can use the OEM front fascia without modifications. Other than the Origin Lab and Victory Function fenders, is anyone aware of other options with mild +30mm widths to cover a 285?

For the rear, I am still considering my options. With a fender stretch/pull/roll, it is feasible to get a 27/64 (or a 285) with 2.5 degrees of camber under the OEM fender? I'm not sure how much the stretch/pull/roll can help.
