Recaro Pole Position side mounts
I fitted a Recaro Pole Position ABE with its specific ABE brackets, but it sits quite high.
Do you know if the FIA side mounts can be fitted on the ABE model? They should be lower. Or, can you recommend another specific side mount? Thanks! |

Thank you very much, but I have the JDM specific Recaro sliders. Do you plan to make a standard, but lower side brackets too?
|
no, I like to use the original sliders, they work much better than the recaro or any aftermarket brand.
over time they get loose and make noise, while the oem ones are much more rigid and slide smoother |

@Ruben_86_ those look awesome! Is that your interior? I want that same setup with dual Recaro Pole Positions. Do you have any more pics? I don't have instagram (I searched for you and it says your account is private). |

To use stock sliders, they need to be cut away from the seat, I'm not interested in damaging stock seat.
Sorry, but Recaro sliders are top notch, much better than stock ones and will not get play during time. They are made by Klippan, that's the stock producer for many german cars. |

I also have the recaro and they do not have the quality of the originals. |
Bride FG is low in these cars. The lowest setting is so low the bottom of my bucket seat was sitting on the floor.
You can see how much lower my driver seat is (side mount) bride FG seat rails versus my passenger (bottom mount) Bride MO https://i.imgur.com/xFRNQOa.jpg |
Unluckily I don't thik that Bride FG sliders fits Pole Position, as the maximum width is 395mm, while the PP is 405. PP will hit the sliders, while typical japanese buckets fit between them, so they can go much lower.

430mm |

@Ruben_86_ Were you able to install the driver/passenger Recaros and disable all the dash lights for the air bags, etc. ? |
I wonder if such custom made side mount brackets:
1) don't net extra width due their shape like L, not 7, like in later schematic pics? 2) if they cannot be made adjustable for wider selection of seats .. by simply changing their bottom mount holes to longer slots? |

Even for the passenger seat? Did you transfer the occupancy sensor over to the passenger Recaro? I tried to find you on instagram but didn't see any matches for @Ruben_86_ |

I have not used the occupant sensor or the seat belt connectors, I do not know if I go with the passenger airbag always active. but it doesn't mark me any problem in the dash |
The passenger airbag is always on. The seatbelt and occupant sensor is just for the seatbelt alarm.
Anyway, we're going offtopic. |
@Ruben_86_ can you please tell me what is the distance between the rear bolt in its lowest position and the floor?
I'd like to know if I can go lower using your brackets. |

Took the measures: with Recaro JDM slider and Recaro JDM side brackets (not that stupid ABE ones), the height is between 13,5 and 14 cm. This is correct, as Recaro sliders are declared to be 5 mm higher from stock, probably because of the seat belt bracket.
I found a very low sliders from Japan, the Kawai Works, but they'll not permit to use the Recaro JDM side stands. But I got an idea from them, I'll try modding the Recaro sliders, perhaps I could get around 2,5 cm more lowering. |
Why are ABE sliders stupid? I don't know much about this, and have a set waiting to go on as soon as my seat arrives.
|
The ABE brackets are absurdly high. The seat will results higher than stock one. Using the JDM brackets I lowered it 2 cm.
I think the best and cheapest solution is to use the custom brackets sold by Ruben 86. |
The height of my supports is limited by the shape of the original bar, but for me it is already low, more than the originals
