Dealer Allocations?
I remember reading a thread of how many cars each US dealership is allocated. Does anyone have this information for Canadian dealers? Some dealerships have said that there are no more available for the year and some have said a two year wait! (we have already ordered ours) I assume that this has to do with their allocation/demand for the car but it would be nice to know the real numbers.

Ha. I'm not sure they meant two years for a 2013 but two years before you would get ONE (whichever the year is). I've also heard from a dealer that its impossible to get any (BRZ) in Canada are all for the rest of the year. I called bullshit on BUT these
things are all from different dealers which is why I was asking about the allocations. |
From what I was told by my dealer (Marino's) each dealer were allocated 6 for this very first batch and that's it. The arrival time was all over the place too - if I wanted a white sport tech manual, it wouldn't arrive until September. But the one I picked up came in at the end of June. The other thing was if you wanted a specific colour/trim - if a dealer didn't have that as part of their allocation, they would have to trade with another dealer (ie. they just can't order another from Subaru Canada).

Thanks Bryan!

Unlike the FR-S, the BRZ has a much more limited production. The dealers are allocated different amounts of vehicle orders depending on the dealer, and each is allocated a test drive car that can come in any configuration (which were sold as pre-orders and to people off the street when they arrived).
Dealers know what they are getting for the year (they are told), but not all are honest about it. The dealer where I picked mine up from is getting 6 for the year. One dealer in Calgary is getting 12, and the other dealer is getting 18 (after trading with other dealerships). All three dealers sold out months ago. I suspect that most dealerships are the same, meaning the only way to get a BRZ this year is if someone cancels their order. Two dealers each had a premium car available on their lots for this reason, so some people who didn't order can still get lucky, they just won't get to pick what they get. The arrival times are spread out through the year and it appears the dealers here are only getting 3 or less per month (not including any vehicles coming as trades from other dealers). The dealers here are taking orders for next year (though some aren't admitting it directly to the people who order, pretending not to know how many are coming so they can collect more deposits). |
