Ticking noise
 

Hi, I’ve recently noticed a ticking noise

It’s coming from the engine bay, I know it’s normal for the direct injection to tick, however as of today for whatever reason it has been noticeably louder- this is the first time in my 2 and a half year of ownership that I’ve ever heard it ticking from inside the cabin, previously I’d have to pop the hood to hear it.
It sounds like it’s echoing and I hear it over my radio when I’m passing other cars or near walls.

Is the ticking suddenly getting louder a sign of something that needs replacing or looking at? mods are uel headers and tuned for e85 (not a shelf tune), which is all I’ve ran for 25k kms. I think I even used a injector cleaner additive about 4000kms go and planned to use the remaining half on my next fill up

My car is RHD so looking at the engine bay the tick is loudest from the driver side sort of inbetween the fuse box and the base of the engine cover- under the middle of the sound tube

is it an automatic? if so, could be the vacuum pump, same as mine. post a video about it

I will say the sound is a tick (same as the normal direct injection tick sound just now I can hear it from the cabin when I drive past other cars) and not a knock that people have described the vacuum pump to be when they’ve had issues. Just sounds like a small leaf flapping around
