Invidia q300 mod

So my q300 has gotten louder. This is known as the packing breaks down. I recently did some custom exhaust mods with a local muffler guy on my 981 and I was thinking about opening up the q300 and repacking.

Any thoughts? Any one have a pic of what the inside might look like?

I love experimenting but I don’t want to destroy that exhaust either or ruin the sound.

I have also bought a few other exhausts and they were all too loud.

Catless header and tune. Stock fp.

You may need to spearhead this. But if you don't want to destroy the exhaust you could either find a new muffler, or honestly, buy a whole new one.

Bought a new one and honestly it was louder. Maybe I’ll do some sound proofing instead. Let’s see if anyone else has any ideas. Thanks.

The reason I got rid of my Q300 way back was because the packing broke up after only a year or so. Switched to the HKS Legamax Sport and it sounded the same the entire time I had it. Same with the TRD Ver R muffler I have now.

Growing up as a motorcycle guy, I was always surprised car exhaust systems were not built to be serviceable. Repacking cans was a regular thing for me.

I have a guy who can cut it open for me and repack, but I have no idea what the inside looks like and don’t want to spend 2-300 without having an idea what to do. So I told him let me do some research.

No reason you can't mess around and try some different things, it's really up to you. I would say cut a panel out, make new panel slightly oversize. Repack with stainless and fiberglass packing. Seal back up with silicone and rivets. Have a beer or 3.

Thanks for the vid. I may give it a try or just live with a loud exhaust.
