Plug and Play options?

I'm looking to see what my options are for a complete plug and play ECU for my 2016 J-Spec BRZ. I'm not looking to start a reflash -vs- P&P argument so please. There are some great options over there, I just don't want that.

So far, all I find are Motec and Emtron which looks suspiciously like a rebadged Motec. I see some swap shops Using Haltechs to make other engines talk to the chassis. My local group is experienced with that ECU so if there is a source for an Elite or Nexus ported to the BRZ with an FA20 that would be very much preferred.

I just want a plug and play with a stock map installed so I can begin installing simple bolt-ons and develop my tuning skills at low power figures.

This is all wrong, I know. Whatever warning you have is probably 100% correct and I would say the same to anybody else. I know me, though. I'm a goof. just help me be goofy.

Thank you, all.

You got it already emtron or motec, both good but expensive

I know motec comes with a get you going map, and I suspect emtron does as well. They won't be stock maps though, as they run different processors to stock ECU, they will just be get you running maps

It's not a bad set of choices. Both systems look great. The Emtron looks like the one. Cheaper with comparable features and a direct plug in with no additional jumper harness to buy or multi-tiered licensing structure.

Is the Bold what you truly want, or are you looking for an excuse to get a standalone?

Personally, I'd go MoTeC between your options, but you won't be able to do as much as you can with the stock ECU.

Very good question. I like where you are going there.
The stuff in bold is the first step on a very long journey. Eventually, the vision is fully built forged engine on boost, but that is so far away and way too pie in the sky at this stage of the discussion.

My desire for the standalone is not wanting to mess with the ways reflash can go wrong. There's no doubt that the reflash tunes are leveraging how powerful modern OEM ECUs are. They are amazing. Unfortunately, because they are so complex I don't want to start doing brain surgery on it. I also don't like the way ECUTek and Subaru want to slap their locks on it. Freedom is expensive; I'll pay.

The factory engine and ECU will eventually be lovingly removed and put in the corner as a backup in case I grenade the built engine or the authorities decide they aren't in agreement with my definition of legality on the hot bullet.:paddle:
