LA "Carmageddon"

So any takers on how bad it will be? I live in the midwest where rush hour is doing 55-60 instead of 70-75. So I can't imagine what some officials are claiming with the 405 being shut down.

How bad do you guys think it will be? Will LA get stuck in gridlock or will most people just stay home/leave town this weekend?

Btw, get your zombie kit ready incase this is the weekend they attack.

I live a bit outside of philly, and rush hour is routinely spending 5 minutes to go a half a mile in a 55mph zone... yet life goes on. I'm gonna go for gridlock because of all of the people using the next immediate roads because that's how sheep traffic works.

405 is completely shut down so anyone going into LA will have to take the 5 or the 91. Or go ALLL away around by using the surface streets. Having the 405 shut down is freaking terrible! Lol

The back up will be all the way to San Diego I was told but dang it's just too crazy. :/

^ Really, all the way back to SD? Wow. Did they say anything about the zombies?

Nothing. :/

Although on the news they're saying there's a couple that can't get to their wedding now because of the back up. Lol

So they're hiring a helicopter. O_O

I thought all the construction work was starting tonight? So backup is already starting?

Hopefully they get rid of those HOV lanes while they're at it, all they do is cause more traffic.

Yea. People are flooding into the area where they need to be for the weekend to prevent driving. Sucks but its for 2 days.

I had to detour my trip to Santa Barbara to train because the 405 is bad. :/

Woot, Philly!

That section between LA and the valley is heavily traveled on the weekends. I would think the people out in Oxnard, Ventura, Thousand Oaks are going to suffer for two days. Traffic is horrible for them on the weekends with the 405. Saturday mornings at 9 to 11 am it can take over an hour just to travel from Topanga Canyon Blvd to LA, about 20 miles.

The 5, 101, 10 and 110 will have to carry the additional load and that's where the "carmageddon" will happen.

I am disappointed Carmageddon didn't take place and the zombies didn't use this chance to attack us. What a disappointing weekend. But in all seriousness, I'm happy for you SoCal people that you didn't have to deal with any major craziness.

I think this was a good idea giving the heads up before it was a problem. I actually heard about it on the BBC radio.

Some kudos may be in order here.
