It doesn't. It's still a porous woven fabric. One manufacturer advises to spray several coats of their high-temp sealant onto their basalt-coated titanium wrap.because it doesn't stick well at first. Maybe it soaks in.


I'd try laying patches of wrap or plain fiberglass with something like this stuff around the ends of each slip joint. Hell, maybe just use it by itself

Why would it die though? I had the OFT1 and kept it in the glovebox of my first one 24/7, and now I have the OFT2 and keep it in the glovebox again and both have never had any hiccups.

Because I keep my OFT here (below)? No it's not the greatest idea, I know.

But really I think there are a few drawbacks to the OFT and I was considering trying something else. My OFT doesn't work if it's been sitting in a hot car for an hour or so, it needs to cool off. It would be nice to be able to log and write straight to/from a laptop like I think you can with ecutek. OFM isn't the greatest software in terms of efficiency. Romraider definitions, while better than they used to be, aren't the most confidence inspiring.

How do you like the v2 vs the v1 btw?

Similar to Clipdat, I keep my V2 OFT in my glovebox 24/7. No issues so far.



If you're trying to keep an eye on all kinds of parameters while driving, I would going ECUTEK with a bluetooth dongle would be best. I believe certain info entertainment tablets support and display ECUTeks software. But that would require also upgrading to a different radio and what not.

I would love to get one of those AIM digital dashes but the price and "work" to mount the thing is just too much lol.

At the end of the day I don't drive hard enough on the street to warrant keeping an eye on things. And when I am on track I use the aim solo dl 2

Well, I think it's time for brakes. At today's AX, I could press the brake pedal all the way down to the stop and not trigger ABS. Got an instructor telling me to brake harder lol. I gotta bleed them before the next event at least. Maybe pick up new pads and rotors after 10 years of ownership...

I used that to try and seal my axleback, but it didn't hold for very long: that stuff gets very hard over a few weeks / heat cycles, and then cracks when stressed.

Ended up using this: https://www.permatex.com/products/or...lue-rtv-3-5oz/, and never thought about it again.

Also, if your issue is with header sealing, why would the hood get hot after you turn the car off and there is no exhaust flow anymore?

My (quite imperfect) theory was that when I turn the car off, or remain somewhat stationary to park it, there is no airflow through the engine bay and there are still hot exhaust gasses in the exhaust pipes. Because the header is leaky, some of those exhaust gasses escape the header, rising to the top of the engine bay as that gas is much hotter than the surrounding air. That is what is causing higher parts of the hood and fenders to get hotter than usual, and there's no airflow to evacuate the gasses.. Of course the heat would radiate out from the pipes over time, but that would be a lower amount over a longer time than just dumping gasses into the engine bay, especially with the coating on the header itself.

Not saying I'm right, but that's what I'm thinking. Sunlight also heats up the hood and fenders, so that probably played a part as well.
