Help about insurance for fr-s

Hey I am new to the forum and this is my first post. I am about the get me a new fr-s, but what worries me is how high as a guesstimate insurance would be monthly for full coverage. I'm 17 with 1 total but no tickets. I'm currently driving a 90 300zx and am paying 380 a month for liability

380 a month for liability? Yikes. Here's a suggestion - call your insurance company and ask. There are so many variables with insurance no one can give you an accurate estimate

btrejo77 08-20-2012 11:08 PM

Yeah that is true. But just as a hot in the dark, what would you guess? I still plan on getting one regardless. I'm just curious

WWWUUUUUUUU HOLY HIGH RISK BATMAN! either you were REAAAALLLY hauling ass on that ONE but not one ticket or your insurance company loooves taking advantage of naive kids. But dude if your paying 380 a month for liability.....ummm i am probably not going to be the last one that tell you but, CANCEL YOUR ORDER NOW! If you finance Full coverage is going to kill you!! like 5-600. I am 20 and have ONE speeding ticket from 2 years ago and a horrible accident that was determined my fault by the police and i pay $178-200 (insurance company hasn't decided) for full coverage. something is wrong on that. My friend is 21 and has a 1991 300zx and he pays around 150 for full coverage and he has 2 speeding tickets. Hope this helps.

You pay almost as much a year for insurance on a 300zx than I do for my BRZ payments + insurance in a year.

My suggestion would be for you to really look into how you can work on reducing your insurance costs. There are usually classes you can take. I don't want to discourage you at all but unless someone is helping you out with funding, I really don't think you should have the "getting one regardless" attitude. Hell what do I know, I just know when I was 17 there is no way I would have been able to pull that off but I made my share of poor automotive financial decisions around that age, just helping you prevent going my route.

Are mom and dad just loaded and don't care how much its going to cost or what? your obviously still in school? sooooo crazy high paying part time job?

i know being a certified Apple tech making $20+ an hour full time that i couldn't afford a 477 payment plus a 500+ insurance payment....

just saying

I have have gotten many different quotes from different insurance companies and all were over $450 for liability on my 300zx. Geico was the cheapest at the 380. And the total I got, I was hit by a woman that was speeding, on the phone, and had been drinking. But her dad was the cop so they blamed it on me, even though she hit me and all that

Well I work 3 different jobs a day. On average I make around $100-$150 dollars a day. I pay for everything of mine

did you already graduate? and you should see about getting a lawyer and maybe getting your entire record expunged and eliminated

btrejo77 08-20-2012 11:29 PM

No I'm about to be a senior in high school. I was thinking about doing that, but the problem with it is that there is currently no proof of any of it, even though she told her dad (which wa the cop) but he didn't record any of it

Ok that makes things pretty much even worse....your probably honestly looking at 800 a month for bare minimum full coverage. i mean it's probably even higher. imagine what you would be paying for your Z at full coverage.....now increase that.....BY A LOT

Not sure you need PROOF to have a lawyer EXPUNGE your record. mine expunged my speed ticket..and my accident from my insurance company

btrejo77 08-20-2012 11:35 PM

I aske about full coverage, and they told me they dont offer it on a 22 year old car, which is bs because my dad also owns another 300zx an he has full coverage. To be honest though, the wreck only raised my insurance $15 a month. It's not bad at all. Before that I had a super clean record and was still paying 365

Hotlava86 08-20-2012 11:45 PM

....Ummmm.....are you not on your parents insurance plan? cause something isn't right....i was driving an Sr20DET 240Sx and my insurance company KNEW it had a turbo'd motor and raised the insurance because of it and i was 16 paying 190 a month liability on a turbo'd S13. something is wrong somewhere...380 a month is NOT BAD....IT IS HORRIBLE! especially for a car thats as old as your car is.
