Cluster Upgrade
 

Hi guys,
I know this an old topic. I've done lost of research online. But still got some problems when I did it.

I have a 2015 GT86 (as I know it's called FRS in the States) low spec, turn key. I bought a high spec cluster/speedmeter which I was told from a 2012 model. They are all NZ new model (not JDM import). When I swap the cluster/speedmeter the car would not start as expected. I checked youtube video, bought a Techstream and cable, "shake-hand" the keys, and started the engine finally. however, the engine light tuned on with code U0155 (loss of communication with your Instrument Panel Cluster Control Module (IPC)) and C1231 (Steering Angle Sensor Circuit Malfunction). The engine idle was very unstable.

I don't know if Toyota made some changes to the cluster of 2015 model. I saw most youtube videos had no problem to put a facelift cluster to a pre-facelift model (except "shake hand" and the control bottoms). But no case of putting old (2012 model) cluster to a 2015 model.

Questions: (1) Is all the pre-faclife clusters are the same? Did Toyota make any changes to the cluster during the pre-facelift production?
(2) Can a 2012 model cluster/speedmeter be swapped to a 2015 model appropriately?
(3) If yes, how can I sort out these problems above?
