2013 FRS Intermittent no-crank

As the title states, having issues with my FRS regarding an intermittent no crank. Starter will only turn about 10% of the time when I turn the key. When it does turn, it’s starts up and is completely fine. There’s no grinding or spinning noise when turning the key so I think it’s a connector issue. Just wondering what else to rule out given the circumstances. I believe this is still the original starter so it’s possible that it just needs replacing anyway.

Do the dash lights come on when you turn the key on? Do they dim when you try to start the engine? Are you pushing the clutch pedal aaaaalllllll the way to the floor every time?

Car otherwise works perfectly. Battery is strong, dash lights are fully functional. It didn’t occur to me that I’m not pushing the clutch all the way down - I did drive in my steel toes this morning…

Funny enough, it hasn’t replicated since, so you might be right. I checked the spot at which the starter engages and it’s only at about 2/3 throw - I hope that’s all it is but I’m finding that hard to believe.
