4th Break light Causing Dash Lights
Hi, I've had the phastek 4th brake light kit installed for years. At some point soon after installing the bulb burnt out so I didnt notice any issues. Recently I installed a wirring harness and removed the taps. I shrink wrapped the areas where the only taps were. When doing this I noticed the burnt out bulb.
Since replacing the bulb I noticed the clock lights would turn off and the back lit buttons on the headunit would turn on when I hit the brakes. Removing the 4th brake light would correct this. Lately I noticed when I turn the head lights on the slip light and abs light come on instantly. This is also corrected by disconnecting the 4th brake light. I tried and led buld instead of halogen and it seems to have fixed the clock issue. But still causeing the slip and ans light to come on when the head lights are turned on. Anyone have any ideas. The only thing I havent tried is a resistor kit I can get for the led bulb. I just wouldn't know where to mount it since it gets hot and said shouldnt be mounted near plastic or wiring. |
Check that your removed taps aren't crossing/shorting
Check the wiring on the harness to make sure they are tied into the system properly and not causing a short to ground or feedback Most LED bulbs have built in resistors to keep the diodes from burning out from too much draw. |
