I got the email from Subaru saying that "On Wednesday, October 12 a software update for the Subaru STARLINK in-vehicle touchscreen in your Crystal Black Silica 2022 BRZ with VIN XYZABC will be available.", but the car is telling me there are no updates available when I check manually. Anyone else receive the email, but not find any pending updates? Thanks.

It would be really hard to judge based on observations. I have pretty fast internet in the house and decent coverage in my garage. No telling the speeds of the servers or the cloud provider where Subaru hosts the data. Even that might vary depending on where their network load balancers send you when you kick off the download.

That makes sense. I think that is how a lot of OS updates work on mobile phones too.

Hahaha, ironically, cloud provider for Subaru is Oracle cloud, so my employer :bellyroll:. I will be using my phone, so I might be able to see how much data it uses.

My Subarus are making me crazy. I got dragged into this because Starlink was telling me that my navigation subscription expired. WTF? I have a 2019 Ascent and a 2022 BRZ, both connected to my iPhone for Apple CarPlay. Then there are the Starlink apps that are pretty much useless, so I deleted the app hoping it will go away. It, this subscription notification keeps bugging me. I began to think it was a holdover from the Magellan Nav app from my 2017 BRZ. Some how I ended up with two concurrent subscriptions to that app which caused it to be schizophrenic not knowing which license to use on a given day. Nearly as bad as the nav system in my RV, that Magellan app is useless. I finally figured out that the subscription notification is about the Tom Tom Nav native to the Ascent head unit that must have expired after four years. I have been using Apple CarPlay for Wayze, Apple Maps and Google Maps, so I guess I’ll kick Tom Tom to the curb along with Sirius XM. In the process of this discovery, I saw that there was a software update on the Ascent and the BRZ. I forgot that I had previously connected them to my WiFi at the house and my cell phone as well. I figured what the hell, I’ll just do it right away. I have Gigabit Speed Fiber, so that should not be a bottleneck. Both cars did the software update straight away without incident. Previously I have done updates to the Ascent by USB drives and once connected to my cell phone while I drove to the airport an hour away. It isn’t apparent to me what improvements were made, so I will just take it for granted that something was not right and now it’s good. Taking the Starlink apps out of the equation, the head units in my Ascent and BRZ work well connected to my iPhone either by Bluetooth or preferred USB. I also have the full meal deal for both cars on the My Subaru app and that gets the job done nicely.

Has anyone noticed any Android Auto performance issues post-install? I used it for the first time last night on a brief road trip and ran into all little problems that only happened once on that trip. Every thing from the screen not responding to touch to inbound phone calls not showing up on the screen and had to be accepted on my phone...though the voice still came through on the speakers.

In the past Android Auto was always rock solid from a performance standpoint. It was Car Play that had a host of issue.

Yeah, android auto has not been flawless post-update.

Nothing major and truthfully, I don't use AA all the time but I did notice a few hiccups since updating.

Still no email or update for me. I am having issues with android auto but it's same on my other car so starting to think it's my phone.

Has anyone upgraded from 120-580 over wifi? I am starting to feel like update from 120-580 is dealer only and other versions are getting updated via Wifi.

FWIW, I got the email about an update being available for my vehicle a couple of weeks ago, but despite checking over different wifi networks every couple of days, the system never finds an update. It's still running the original software version.

An update to this-

I completely unpaired the phone (& deleted the car from my phone) and re-paired it.

I haven't had a single problem or stutter since doing that (and I have been using it every day for a week).
