Engine Overheating
So I'm having issues with my cooling system for my 2017 Toyota 86 were it over heats especially during the summer months. I notice it more when I'm sitting in traffic the temps go up, but when I turn on my AC it cools it down. I initially thought my fans weren't turning on and my relays were bad but no they're good. I've also have notice that I also go through coolant very quickly too but I'm not leaking anywhere.
I'm just hoping if anyone might have a suggestion or an answer that might help me. Thanks. |
What do you mean overheating? The temp gauge in the red, steaming from the engine, you have digital gauge and it is reading high? Are you checking coolant at the reservoir or the rad fill?
AC on forces fans on full I believe. |
It comes close to over heating but I turn on the AC or heater to full blast to get it down before it gets to red. And yes I have a digital gauge to see my Temps.
And when I do check my coolant I will still have some in the reservoir but less than before I go thought coolant pretty quick but I don't have any leaks, smell, or steam. |
In traffic temps too high, solved when fans kick on. Sounds like the car isn't turning on fans when it needs to. Check the fan temperature switch
What is considered "too high" for you? |
Can you take a picture of the gauge cluster when its reading high?
Don't mean to say that you don't know how to read the cluster but I have the coolant indicator move up and down also in summer. But only a bit and when the AC fan kicks in it goes down. What's your ambient temp? That reservoir is an expansion tank and the level will go up when the car is hot and go down when cold. Some evaporation happens over sometime and you need to top it up occasionally. |
