P0020 CEL?

Hi guys,

Recently been greeted by a P0020 CEL “A camshaft position actuator / open bank 2”

After taking a quick look in the bay I noticed my sandwich plate for the oil cooler had come loose, causing oil spill between the plate and the spacer below the oil filter, I have since fixed this and changed oil/filter, with the code still up I then proceeded to replace cam sensor and oil control valve both for intake side

Cleared the code and went for a drive, 15 minutes later it re appears, anyone have any suggestions on what to check next?

p0020 is a straightforward error. it's that solenoid, or the connector, or the wiring, or the ecu itself.

Solenoid and sensor has been replaced, connector cleaned and wires checked, can’t see it being the ecu, car drives, comes on boost, idles fine, but keeps triggering…

"Can't see it being..." is not a troubleshooting step. Have you actually tested the components in question? Looked for a signal? Also, why are you wasting your time with the sensor?

The sensor was swimming in oil due to the oil leak from the sandwich plate, and compared an ohms reading to another sensor which was ridiculously off, then tested it against the new sensor and the new one matched bank 1, leading me to believe it was a sensor issue.

As said before the solenoid has been replaced too, I don’t have tech stream or anything to retrieve the data to diagnose any further, so thought I’d post on here to see if anyone has experienced or have any ideas going forward before I take it in to the garage

A DTC for *camshaft position actuator circuit*, replaces the camshaft position sensor.

WHY!? Why do people on forums do this!? My toilet doesn't flush... Guess I'll change the kitchen sink!

Yet you've seemingly got a DVOM as you say you've ohm'ed out the sensor. That DVOM can read volts you know, and maybe even AMPS!. You can test the CAMSHAFT POSITION ACTUATOR CIRCUIT

P0020

Oil control valve current is less than 0.306 A for intake camshaft circuit for 2 seconds or more (bank 2).
