Built my own 86.....sort of.....

Well I placed my order for my 86 in March and still waiting for a production date like many of us here. I have a few parts now on order and I am sure I will get them all before my car arrives.

So I decided to build something to keep me amused while I wait.

Here are the specks..

Mostly made out of scrap alloy tubing. I dont have a welder or know how to weld aluminium so I made my design and had it professionally welded....as you do.

The floor is chequer plate, 5mm
The seat I found on ebay for about $120 comes with a sliding rail.
The steering wheel is wifi and was over the top expensive but very realistic
The pedals were over the top expensive but are excellent and adjustable spring tensions.........

Powered by and xbox - forza 4 - Head tracker system

It has surround sound with a subwoofer under the seat with center speaker and two speaker behind the seat and two near the steering wheel and the speakers on the TV sound the sound is excellent. Better than in the car im getting for sure.

I also powered all the devices through 240v to 12v box.. made by my dad who is an electrician so I can have the switches on the dash..... over the top I know but I was bored.....

Also has Led light lighting up the bottom part of the console.

The Rods holding the TV stand are removable to I can plug the HDMI connector to my full size 72inch screen in my lounge room.
( I did have to remove the door on my study to get it in and turn it up on one end to get it in...and only just....)

Well thats it....works well and now I can drive the GT 86 at home.. until mine arrives.......

Feel free of course to post all your pics here of your own car simulators...If you are bored enough like me. :party0030:

Thanks allot, cheers. I don't think many would be interested as its not really cost effective. I did try to save as much as I could finding scrap alloy as the base.
I guess if you had the Xbox and screen the cost wouldn't be so bad.
I would say to have a go your self and see what you come up with. Nothing to loose every thing to gain.

Found a new weekend project. Neighbour owns an exhaust shop, plenty of scrap tubes.. guess I'll be at his shop every Sunday

VERY cool!! - looks amazing

Here is my setup (testing out the eye toy with GT5) - This setup cost about $400 - $450 minus the steering wheel

Where on Earth did you source a Fanatec wheel from? I'm guessing that's the GT2?

Well picked up..... So I created an account with bongo international. They give me an address to post to in the US. The they post it on to me. The pedals are also from them with force feedback in the brake pedal.....
