If the ft86 fails...

who here is getting one of these delicate little things

Hennessey Venom Gt
http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets...enom_gt_01.jpg

only powerful enough to intimidate the bugatti veyron ss, 0-200 in 15.9s, 1200hp, more nimble than a porsche 911. sounds like a good daily driver to me :burnrubber:

Ryuu0u 07-13-2011 01:25 AM

Well at least its not in the general discussion section.

tranzformer 07-13-2011 01:46 AM

Yeah what a great rocket ship er I mean car.

Just a note of reference. Veyron 0-200mph= 24.2sec. Venom GT 0-200mph=15.9 sec.:bow::bow::confused0068:

I'll be the asshole here...

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...ght=ft86+fails :D

Awesome car though...their website says it will go 275mph...world record?

Dimman 07-13-2011 02:38 AM

WTF is that??? Looks like a stretched Elise. And Hennessey is known for twin turbo Vipers. Sooo... did they cram a twin-turbo 8.xL V10 in an Elise???

Yup. A modified Exige chassis with a Corvette ZR1 V8 engine that is twin turbo.

I finally got that damn thing outa my head and started to be happy thinking of cars I could actually afford...now you went and showed it again .

Thanks a lot :mad0259:

I'll take any car where posting "0-200 mph" stats is relevant. :eyebulge:

One thing about the Venom GT that amazes me is that they were originally going to make 29 cars then that changed to 10 cars but now cut that back to 5. I understand the concept of creating something unique and special, but damn! Wonder if they can recoup the R&D costs with such a short production run? Maybe the interest they thought was there dried up? Just a few interesting numbers for those that might be interested:

Stock Exige S: $66k
Chevy 6.2 liter LS9 V8 engine: $21k

Venom GT 725hp: $725k
Venom GT 1200hp: $950k

Now I know Hennessey did a ton of work to the Exige. I think I read somewhere that less than 10% of the parts are from the Exige. So that is no small task. Especially since the body is all carbon fiber. But damn, for $700-950k I would like an interior more like a Bugatti/Zonda than a Lotus! lol

The trick is the cost difference between 1200hp and 725hp is nowhere near $225k. And Hennessy customers seem to be the type that go big or go home. Who's going to be the sissy that buys the pansy 725hp version? Lol. They will make their money, don't worry about them. It's low volume custom stuff. Not that big of a deal in the grand scheme.

Yeah I agree. But that extra 475hp probably makes the difference between being able to do +270mph vs. "only" being able to do 220-230mph (I know that isn't a scientific number and I just pulled that out of my arse). So if you want to be able to brag that your car is faster than a Veyron and the current fastest street car in the world, you gotta fork up that extra $225k. lol But it probably isn't any more than just a different size turbo + tune. Hell you could just buy the base and upgrade it yourself for a lot cheaper assuming everything else is the same (suspension, transmission, electronics...etc.).

Matador 07-13-2011 07:55 PM

Talk is cheap. This car isn't shit until it's put it's money where it's mouth is.

Kit car compared to the Veyron. And I am not a fan of the Veyron.
