‘13 BRZ, changing HU and keeping OEM Audio Plus system?

I have a 2013 BRZ with the stock HU, and an OEM Audio Plus system (can’t remember the exact model number). My head unit is completely out of calibration with the touchscreen, so switching through any of the audio inputs is impossible without using a nail/pin.

Is it possible to swap the HU out and still have the OEM Audio plus system work correctly?

Thanks

From my understanding, since the OEM audio + setup connects to the factory head unit, anything that uses factory harness should work just fine

You can also contact OEM Audio Plus about retuning the system to your new head unit. The amp would need to be removed from behind the sub and shipped to them. I went through the process when I changed to a Pioneer HU and it didn't take long to get the remapped amp back from them and everything sounds great.

this is really what you need to do if you get an aftermarket head unit.

almost all oem head units these days have some sort of built-in sound enhancements, the oem+ system alters the sound of the speakers but it alters it while planning for the oem head units specific enhancements.

easiest thing is to just change the oem head unit for another oem head unit. nothing will need to be altered for that change.

Thanks for the replies!

Probably going to just swap for a used OEM HU, I can get one on Ebay for pretty cheap. Was considering going with a CarPlay HU but I don't plan on keeping this car for much longer than the next year or so, so spending $150 is more appealing than $500+ and having to remove the amp and ship it off to OEM Audio.

Is there a real difference between the 13/14/15 HU's? They have different model numbers on the front, but look identical otherwise. Figure it would make sense to get a newer one if there's no real difference. Also is there a security code or anything needed to unlock the radio? I remember having to enter that in my older Honda after the battery was dead for a few days.
